FIRST LEGO League Final Central Europe cancelled as a precaution
by Tina Hoefnagels
The FIRST LEGO League Final Central Europe was cancelled as a precaution regarding the Covid-19 virus. This was detemined together by the organisers HANDS on TECHNOLOGY e.V. and the Hochschule Offenburg on Friday, February, 29 2020.
After the rapid spread of the virus as well as cases of the Covid-19 disease in Europe and specifically in Baden-Wuerttemberg in the past days, the risk was deemed to high and the event was cancelled. This is purely a preventative measure for the protection of the teams and everyone involved.
The Hochschule Offenburg and we were in close contact over the past days and are very sorry for the cancellation. There was, however, no other choice to prevent a further spreading and to keep the over 400 guests safe.
There will not a subsitution date for the Final because the situation is still unclear. FIRST® also announced on March 12, 2020 that the entire 2019/20 season will be suspended and all tournaments cancelled.
