The impact of our work

When children ask curious questions, tinker together, and find solutions, genuine excitement for science and technology arises – and that is exactly what our programs achieve. With the global STEM education program FIRST LEGO League, we support children and young people aged 4 to 16, strengthen STEM education in schools, and create lasting learning experiences that extend beyond the competition.

Our impact goals reflect the comprehensive approach of FIRST LEGO League, which nurtures children and young people in a playful way, strengthens STEM education at schools, and fosters a long-term enthusiasm for technology and science topics.

  • Inspiring STEM Interest
We spark interest in STEM through playful learning for children and young people aged 4 to 16.
  • Development of Key Skills
Participants acquire essential skills such as programming, designing, researching, presenting, and teamwork, which they can apply both at school and later in their careers.
  • Improving STEM Education
Through FIRST LEGO League, schools receive ideas to make their lessons more hands-on, interdisciplinary, and creative, thereby enhancing the quality of STEM education.
  • Long-Term Learning with Future Perspective
The program imparts knowledge and skills for lifelong learning and supports career orientation in STEM fields at schools.
  • Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)
Our participants learn to understand complex relationships and find solutions to problems, promoting responsible action for the future.

Our STEM program FIRST LEGO League has a lasting impact! We collect quantitative data for our impact reporting through the registration data of teams and classes. To measure qualitative impact, we use an online survey at the end of each season, complemented by short reports, interviews, and anecdotes that provide valuable insights into the individual development and enthusiasm of the participants.

"I discovered the FIRST LEGO League seven years ago and was immediately enthusiastic about the concept. From an educational perspective, it is a real success! The children have the opportunity to solve very complex tasks without even realizing it and experience research like little engineers. What fascinates me most is seeing the children's development and their joy in discovering new things."

Sabrina Chapuis, coach of a FIRST LEGO League Explore team, Switzerland

"Amid the snow-covered mountains around Davos, this final was undoubtedly something very special. For the teams, it was a unique experience to present their projects in such a renowned conference center, which is usually the venue for significant global discussions. As a judge who had participated in several competitions throughout the season, it was fascinating to see how the teams had developed. At the same time, it was exciting to meet new teams bringing fresh, innovative ideas and enriching the competition's dynamic."

Jakub Stříbrný, FIRST LEGO League Challenge judge and former team member, developer, Berlin

"Through organizing the event in combination with teacher training, new teams have been established at schools over the past 10 years, and the area of robotics clubs in schools has been strengthened."

Sandra Blum, regional partner from Fulda

"The project and the children at our school are simply amazing! For three seasons, they have been enthusiastically participating in FIRST LEGO League Explore. What started as a small team of six children has now grown to 15 teams from the 4th grade. And we want to grow even further – our goal is 25 teams from 1st to 4th grade. The children's interest is simply enormous! For me, it is truly overwhelming to see how much joy and intrinsic motivation the children bring to school and after-school care!"

David Uhlig, educator, after-school care at Grundschule am Leutzscher Holz, Leipzig
